Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does this cost?
A: It depends on a few factors including, the height of the animal entry (I place traps directly over the entry), the species involved (some species live in large groups meaning more animals to remove), the time of year (ice and snow or 200F roofs make access more difficult), or how busy we are (busier times means more time away from our families).
Q: How long will this take?
A: We like to say 1 week for standard removal and a temporary patch over the entry. If you opt for exclusion work (installing permanent materials and devices to prevent future problems), it could take longer. We have a considerable amount of materials on hand, but every home and situation is different. We do not take shortcuts and will only use the best and most appropriate materials on your home.
Q: How are you different from the other guy?
A: We operate under a constant improvement model. It pushes us toward more efficient and effective techniques and procedures. We write and follow our own protocols. We collect and analyze data to better understand animal behavior and make better decisions. We are NOT the “put traps on the ground and good luck” kind of people.
Q: What sort of equipment do you use?
A: We use a brand of professional trap that is far beyond anything available to a consumer from either a hardware store or Amazon. Our traps work upside down, on angles, even underwater. They are industrial and effective, but even then, we can’t help but modify them to fit each circumstance! In addition to the traps, we use Skyhawk Kiwi Trap Monitors. These devices send a text message to our phones when the trap is activated. This greatly improves efficiency, streamlining the process. It also provides 100% accountability to the customer. Since we are being paid to remove animals, you can bet we will provide 100% proof.
Q: Do you relocate the animals?
A: That is a very complex issue that requires years of study to fully understand, but suffice to say, in most instances the animals are euthanized. We follow state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines regarding the handling of animals and do not take the euthanization of animals lightly. We offer customers interested in the science behind the state and federal regulations, several studies involving zoonotic disease vectors and transmissivity of pathogens between various mammalian species including humans. The laws are complex, scientific and sometimes controversial, but we here at QC Wildlife Control LLC agree with the guidelines and laws.
Q: Will different animals come back?
A: If your home has been deemed suitable and attractive to a single or set of animals of a particular species, chances are other animals of the same species will also find it attractive. That is why we ALWAYS recommend exclusion to keep them out. Exclusion is a permanent solution to ensure you never see our faces again.
Q: Why did the animals break into my house?
A: All animals operate on a “Conservation Of Effort” principle. In order to survive, they must find food, shelter and reproduce. These three things are all that motivate them. Many times, animals will exploit construction flaws or damaged or rotted areas to gain entry. Other times, animals will break in looking for a food source and just decide to stay. It occurs frequently with raccoons chasing bats, mice or squirrels. Contrary to popular belief, the raccoons didn’t break into your home because they were cold, or you live near standing timber. Raccoons will live in your attic if they were born and were weaned in an attic. Raccoons born in trees, for the most part, live in trees.
Q: How long have they been in my attic? I only heard them a few days ago.
A: The answer to that question rests solely on directly observable evidence. Many times, raccoons will pattern the humans, leaving the attic after the humans are sleeping and quiet. Subsequently, they will return before the humans are normally awake and moving around. This seems like a fantastical claim, but it bears out after thousands of interactions and conversation with customers. Many times, a customer will only notice the sounds of babies (who don’t follow rules and patterns), or an adult moving around at an odd hour.
Q: The other guy said I need XXXXXX. Do I need that?
A: Our recommendations are based on actual observable evidence, experience, and wildlife science. Nothing more, or less. It is always our intention to never see customers twice. There are many stories of competitors telling customers ridiculous things and making absurd recommendations. Everything we say can be independently verified using standard investigative study techniques (NOT GOOGLE).
